Shepstone Labs is a passion project built around a simple idea: if a problem keeps appearing, maybe it needs a better solution.
Growing up, I spent time around my family's engineering company and with my Great Uncle Edgar, who remained involved after retirement. He taught me to look at problems differently: understand the system, find what is not working, and fix the thing that actually matters.
From workshops and machinery to conversations about nature, engineering, and life, those lessons shaped how I approach problems today.
Shepstone Labs is where I apply that same thinking to new ideas, digital tools, and solutions that make things work better.

My CV reads like I couldn't decide on an industry: aviation, freight, ecommerce, logistics, and one very specific NDA.
The funny thing is, every place had the same challenge. The processes were complicated, the calculations were painful, and the right tools were usually missing.
After enough years of looking for solutions that didn't exist, I decided to build them myself.
Ten years of saying "one day," a day job that is still very much alive, and here I am. That's Shepstone Labs.
Named after Port Shepstone, my hometown on the Lower South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
— behind the work
part of a bigger idea.
Shepstone Labs is a small corner of the Shepstone ecosystem where I explore ideas, build tools, and solve problems.
Every project starts with a problem I would want solved myself.
